The first part Yam dwells upon the upliftment of the society.
The second part is, Niyam deals with the betterment of one’s own conduct.
The third part of Yog is Asana or postures. Asana are necessary to make the body pure and static.
The fourth part of Yog is Pranayama. Pranayama is essential for the purification of the mind.
The fifth part of Yog is Pratyahar. It helps us in withdrawing our senses from the objects.
Sixth part of Yog is Dharana. It enhances our power of concentration.
The seventh part of Yog is Dhyan (Meditation), it is meant to purify Chitt of consciousness.
The eighth part of Yog is Samadhi. It is the ultimate goal of Yog or it is called a super-conscious state.

The Types of Yog
Basically Yog is divided in to four parts by Patanjali Yoga Sutra.
Raj Yog :-
Raj means royal in the Sanskrit language. Meditation is the main element of Raj Yog. Patanjali named it Astanga Yoga because of its eight parts. Raj Yoga is for those people who are more attracted to self-confidence and meditation. Asanas are a part of yoga, but most people consider asanas to be complete yoga.
Karma Yog :-
The second part of yoga is karma yoga this yoga is also called the path of service. Because karma yoga only leads the world and no one can escape from this yoga. What we are today and what we experience is created by karma in the past. Karma yoga gives us freedom from negativity and selfishness and gives us an opportunity to create a future sitting in the present. Karma yoga paves the way for selfless work and serving others.
Bhakti Yog: –
Bhakti Yoga paves the way for devotion. It is only through devotional yoga that we near our beloved God and are devoted to him. Bhakti yoga is the perfect way to overcome emotions. The path of Bhakti leads all of us to positive thinking and creates tolerance in us.
Since ancient times, devotion is considered to be the yoga of the mind, and Gyan (Knowledge) is the yoga of the intellect. Gyan Yoga is the path of a yoga scholar. It is very important to develop the intellect through the study of texts while walking on this yoga path. To walk on the path of Gyan yoga, many trials have to be faced and this is a difficult path. Gyan Yoga attracts those who are intellectually inclined.

Yog is meant to achieve physical, mental, and spiritual goals and these three objectives will be achieved only when the three are properly aligned.
We do asanas to balance the nerves, muscles and organs in the body. Because until these three balances is formed, then it works against each other.
After creating physical balance, yog works in correcting mental balance because it is very important to achieve mental balance in today’s stressful life. One can get rid of mental illnesses through Yog.
Spiritualism can be achieved through Yog. When a person’s physical and mental balance is correct, he can easily attain a spiritual level through Yog.
