How Many Times a Week Should I do Yoga

I love yoga and I am a big fan of yoga-like you. Definitely, if you are reading this post, you may have some curiosity about yoga? Seven years back, when I started yoga, I had also this question in mind, “how many times a week should I do yoga?” and I got different answers from different yoga Gurus.

According to Religion World, if Yoga asana does even one hour a week, then it is very beneficial for health. The more you do it, the more its benefits increases.

Dr. Sudhakant Mishra, a Yoga expert says that “yoga practice in a week is depending on one’s requirements”. According to him, there should be a minimum 3 hours gap between your food and yoga. Yoga practice depends on diseases and deficiencies that you want to cure. If someone is suffering from lung cancer then he/she needs more and more Oxygen. And to fulfill Oxygen, he/she needs more and more Pranayama and breathing exercises on daily basis.  

You would prefer Kapalbhati and Anulom Vilom for lung cancer.

There is not only one single answer to this question “how many times a week should I do yoga?”

Indian yoga guru, Nityanandam Shree says that a person should do yoga daily like other habits like bathing and brushing.

Man Flow Yoga says that “You should do at least 20 to 30 minutes of yoga five to six times per week”.  If you are combining yoga with other purposes such as weight loss or belly fat burn then you need at least 60 to 100 minutes of yoga per week.

People who are suffering from back pain, obviously, they will like yoga for back pain.

Indian Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev says that 30-minute morning yoga along with 5 breathing exercises can change your life.

Yoga is like a sea, the deeper you dive, the more it becomes knowledgeable.

If you want to reduce belly fat then, of course, you have to do belly fat yoga daily and that too at least 30 minutes daily.

Let’s talk about the root of yoga, who doesn’t know about it. Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’, which means ‘combine’. Those who do yoga are called Yogis.

How did Yoga start? – Ancient sages had started yoga for good health and a fit body. Today, in most parts of the world, people continuously practice yoga asanas to get rid of disease and stay healthy.

Yoga advice -Yoga is a science, practicing it improperly can also be harmful. Hence it is advisable to do it under the supervision of experts. A few yoga experts suggest that one should do yoga at least three times a week for one hour. If you give yoga even 20 minutes per day, then it is also very beneficial for your health.

Flexibility in the body is not a mandatory condition for yoga. People, who do not have flexibility in their body, can also do yoga. Yoga can bring flexibility to their body. The greatest need for yoga is to be prepared with your mind and body to do yoga.

While doing yoga, you can use yoga leggings, T-shirts, or yoga dresses. Keep in mind that your dress should not be too loose while doing yoga. There is no special footwear for yoga

I read a lot of yoga books and attended yoga seminars. As per my 7 years of experience, you should have at least 100 minutes of yoga and 60 minutes of Pranayama in a week. This is an average time for a common and healthy person. Rest time duration of yoga depends on the goal you want to achieve.
